چکیده
An architecture for implementing large scale holographic interconnections in photorefractive waveguides is described. Methods for controlling the hologram using unguided light are considered and experimentally demonstrated.

Adaptive optical networks using photorefractive crystals.
The capabilities of photorefractive crystals as media for holographic interconnections in neural networks are examined. Limitations on the density of interconnections and the number of holographic associations which can be stored in photorefractive crystals are derived. Optical architectures for implementing various neural schemes are described. Experimental results are presented for one of the...
متن کاملLearning in Large Optical Networks
In a holographic optical learning network, the decay of multiply exposed holographic interconnections can adversely affect the training of the network. A new dynamic photorefractive holographic memory is described that allows an arbitrarily long sequence of adaptations by rejuvenating decayed holograms with a simple all-optical feedback loop.
متن کاملLimitation on holographic storage in photorefractive waveguides.
We show that photorefractive waveguide devices are subject to a limitation on their holographic storage capability owing to transversely nonuniform nonlinear losses to evanescent and radiation modes.
متن کاملOptical Interconnections on Electrical Boards Using Embedded Active Optoelectronic Components
Significant opportunities are emerging for optical interconnections at the board, module, and chip level if compact, low loss, high data rate optical interconnections can be integrated into these electrical interconnection systems. This paper describes an integration process for creating optical interconnections which can be integrated in a postprocessing format onto standard boards, modules, a...
متن کاملPhotorefractive recording by a special mechanism in planar LiNbO(3) waveguides.
Recording of holographic gratings in z-cut LiNbO(3) waveguides with extraordinarily (TM) polarized light is demonstrated. In this geometry, photovoltaic currents perpendicular to the guiding layer and the grating vector set up space-charge fields. The mechanism has no equivalent in bulk material.
